What Men Need to Know About Hair Loss

For men, hair loss results from the roll of the genetic dice. But men not subject to hereditary male pattern baldness lose hair, with approximately 66 percent of males over 35 experiencing some hair loss. Guys who are genetically predisposed to balding can slow the cycle. Certain grooming and lifestyle changes can keep more hair on your head for a longer period of time.
If you still have a nicotine habit, here’s another reason to quit. Besides all the damage smoking does to you internally, it also affects your hair. Nicotine constricts blood vessels, and that includes those involving hair follicles. If you don’t suffer from male pattern baldness, quitting smoking allows your hair to grow back.
Avoid Combing Wet Hair
Combing or brushing your hair when it is wet can lead to hair breakage. If your hair is short, let it dry naturally before combing. If using a hair dryer, don’t use high settings. Excessive heat on your hair also weakens it and causes it to fall out.
Protect Your Hair in Pools
If you frequently swim in pools, protect your hair. Chlorine dries out your hair, making it more likely to break. If wearing a bathing cap in the pool is out of the question, make sure to wash your hair thoroughly after every swimming session.

If you start losing hair, visit your doctor for a diagnosis. Male pattern baldness is easy to recognize, but other causes of hair loss may result from thyroid or nutritional deficiencies. Use Shampoo Containing Ketoconazole
Ketoconazole, found in many dandruff shampoos, can help keep your hair on your head rather than heading down the drain. This antifungal shampoo reduces testosterone in hair follicles – although not in the rest of you. The testosterone reduction helps prevent hair shedding, and the product also gets rid of any dandruff.
