A receding hair is designated as Class 2 hair loss according to the Norwood classification scale, the most widely used scale for hair loss in men. Class 2 hair loss is a progression of the adult male hairline to a finger’s breath above the forehead with minor hair recession around the temples. A Class 2 hairline does not necessarily regress to further states of baldness, but denotes a receding hairline has developed.
